Storage and Transhipment

Euro-Rijn’s site in Moerdijk provides you with the perfect uncoupling point in your logistical chain. Our 600-metre long quay, two mobile cranes, two independently operating weighbridges and a covered storage facility comprising 50,000 square metres of floor area means Euro-Rijn has everything you need for the efficient storage and transhipment of bulk goods and general cargo.

Euro-Rijn is especially familiar with all the ins and outs of the storage and transhipment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. We have a range of crushing and sieving plants to process your metals and ores into any format you desire. Our range of packing plants also means that we can then pack the end product in either big bags, small bags, drums or cans. We can also perform these added value activities for other goods.

When your goods arrive at our terminal, we record the weight of the freight accurately. All lorries are weighed both upon arrival and departure using a calibrated weighbridge accurate to 20 kg. This means we can determine and record the loaded or unloaded weight immediately. We use the same approach when loading and unloading vessels. Using different weighbridges for internal and external traffic means we can guarantee that our terminal handles your transhipment quickly and efficiently.

When it comes to the internal transportation of bulk goods, our terminals use multiple shovels, each of which is equipped with weighing equipment in the loading shovels. We weigh general cargo using (weighing) scales that can weigh each package to an accuracy of 1 kg. All weighbridges and scales are linked directly to our warehouse management system, so that the registered weights can be recorded quickly and error-free without the need for human intervention.

In order to ensure that all information is processed correctly, we assign a unique (batch) number to each goods item being stored. This number is linked to the owner of the goods and to all unique batch data such as the registered weights. When the goods arrive they are inspected by our warehouse staff, with the results of this inspection being recorded in the system too. This allows us to inform you immediately about the condition that your goods have arrived in.

The procedure for outgoing goods is similar to that for incoming goods. Here too, inspections are carried out both before and during loading, with everything being weighed accurately. Our procedures also include a number of control processes, so that you can be sure that your goods are shipped quickly and correctly. We naturally keep you informed about how these processes are going.

We are always on the lookout for innovative solutions that will ensure (even) more efficient loading and transportation of your goods. For example, for some years now we have been able to use a smart piece of equipment that facilitates the loading and unloading of such products as aluminium slabs that weigh 30 tonnes each. This equipment allows us to load the slabs in standard 20-foot or 40-foot long containers that make both transportation and handling a good deal easier all over the world.

Naturally, we provide not only the incoming and outgoing goods processes but also their transportation if required. Our carriers will bring your goods to your desired destination by ship, lorry or train.
